Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton on the Rocks [Dec. 21st, 2009|12:19 pm]

*

Pussycat Doll cutie Nicole Scherzinger and her racing driver beau Lewis Hamilton are reportedly on the rocks and on the brink of a breakup.

The couple, who has reportedly not seen each other for almost a month, just shelved plans to spend Christmas together. Not a good sign!

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Lewis and Nicole have had a few problems for a while now. They love each other dearly but have incredibly busy schedules.

“Nicole was in London last week and was desperate to hook up with Lewis but she was busy in the studio while he is on a European training camp and couldn’t come back.

"Hopefully after a month apart, they will come to their senses and give things another go.”

They've been together for over three years, but maybe a little break is just what they need to revaluate their relationship and realize how much they love each other.

Singer Talks More About X-Men: First Class! [Dec. 21st, 2009|11:40 am]

ohnotheydidnt

[cricketgrl]
In the last few days, we've learned that X-Men and X2: X-Men United helmer Bryan Singer is returning to direct X-Men: First Class for Fox and that Jamie Moss will write the new script. Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producers.

Variety learned more from Singer, who said that the studio sparked to a detailed treatment he wrote for the film. "This is the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where there relationship took a wrong turn," Singer said. "There is a romantic element, and some of the mutants from 'X-Men' will figure into the plot, though I don't want to say which ones. There will be a lot of new mutants and a great villain."

In the film, Xavier and Magneto will be twenty-something, and the film sounds similar in construct to the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek.  "Whether it's 'Batman,' 'Lord of the Rings' or 'Star Trek,' if the characters are good, you want to see them on their journey even if you know their destiny," Singer said. "I put myself in the fan's position, and I think this story is something I would want to see, and so will they."

[1.] Which recently singled douchebag’s publicist has been calling every tabloid begging them to print his version of the breakup in order to protect his ego? The rep has been desperately trying to play competing publications against each other to make sure his client comes out of it with his penis size preserved which only reinforces the widely held belief that his client is a giant prick – in personality, and not necessarily in his pants.

[2.] Everyone knows about this delightful action star’s relationship with the head of his company and that his wife isn’t really his lover. But the boyfriend is jealous and overprotective and now his hiring practices are raising some eyebrows. He will not hire anyone prettier/hunkier/more stylish than he is for fear of tempting his famous partner.

Brittany dies from natural causes. [Dec. 21st, 2009|09:56 am]

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Brittany Murphy, the bubbly, free-spirited actress who appeared in such films as "Clueless" and "8 Mile," died apparently of natural causes, the Los Angeles County coroner's office said.

Murphy, 32, was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. PT (1:04 p.m. ET) Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, hospital spokeswoman Sally Stewart said.

An autopsy had not been scheduled as of Sunday night, but Capt. John Kades, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said there was no sign of foul play or trauma.

"Naturally occurring diseases could be found in any person that could lead to death," Kades said.

I'm not so sure about all this. )

Seems strange, but I guess we have to accept the coroner's ruling. R.I.P Brittany. :(

ETA: So apparently "natural causes" just means a death ruled as anything besides the following: accident (sometimes termed "death by misadventure"), suicide, or homicide. The article didn't mention that and wasn't clear about it, but I think this means that if there are any findings after an autopsy or toxicology report her death could still be determined to be caused be something else .

Just what the Doctor ordered: How David Tennant's Time Lord saved Auntie

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Do you hate David Tennant? Then this will be the worst Christmas of your life. You might as well gaffer-tape your face until January, because between today and New Year's Day, that lanky Scotsman with the Converse tennis shoes and the pinstripes and the great hair-wax explosion will fill more airwaves than Fiona Bruce and the jewellery demonstrators of QVC combined.

Doctor Who will drive the Tardis-like Santa's sleigh all over the BBC One channel idents. Off he'll go, with the full complement of reindeer, to score a big "O" into the winter sky – and he'll make around 40 more house calls during the festive season. Principal among these, of course, is his 10th incarnation's final two-part adventure. (Its title, "The End of Time", is sufficiently apocalyptic to suggest that Tennant's Doctor will not, like Colin Baker's, perish simply by falling over and banging his head on a hard bit of the Tardis.) Each episode will be followed by Doctor Who Confidential, a supporting documentary on BBC Three, which will comprise behind-the-scenes footage and the now-customary interviews with production staff overusing the word "iconic". A CGI Tennant will battle monsters in the New Mexico desert in the animated story "Dreamland", and the flesh-and-blood original will be standing in for Jonathan Ross on Radio 2, lolling on the sofas of GMTV, Blue Peter and Alan Carr; hosting a Who-themed Never Mind the Buzzcocks, warming a seat on QI and Desert Island Discs, suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune as Hamlet on BBC2, and reading ' a week of bedtime stories on CBeebies. (That may be it, but the details of the Queen's Speech have yet to be announced.)

Manson: "I would not piss on Pogo if he were on fire" [Dec. 21st, 2009|11:34 am]

Marilyn Manson Settles Lawsuit With Ex-Keyboardist Pogo

Marilyn Manson and his former keyboardist Stephen Bier -- known to fans by his stage names, Pogo and Madonna Wayne Gacy -- have settled a 2007 breach-of-contract lawsuit, but the terms of the settlement have not been made public. According to reports, attorneys for Bier and shock-rocker Manson told Judge Michael L. Stern on Dec. 11 that a settlement had been reached in Bier's August 2007 suit against Manson, but the terms were not revealed in open court.

In Bier's suit, he claims Manson had been using the band's money to fund his lavish lifestyle, drug habit and the production of his upcoming film, 'Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll,' among other things.

The suit further alleged that Manson took assets belonging to the rest of the band (money generated through touring and album/merchandise sales) to purchase Nazi paraphernalia, African masks made of human skin and the full skeleton of a 4-year-old Chinese girl, all of which he had on display in his Chatsworth, Calif., mansion. The suit also claims Manson used band funds to pay for a $150,000 engagement ring for ex-wife Dita Von Teese. Of course, Manson has long denied the allegations. Bier's suit was originally seeking more than $20 million in damages.

In the wake of the settlement, Manson took to his MySpace blog to rip into his one-time keyboardist. "I want to make clear that, aside from the wasted legal fees, in no way did I pay off the person that stood behind a keyboard - pretending to play music other artists in this band wrote," Manson writes. "And I would not piss on Pogo if he was on fire. Thee end. Or is it? Let's wait until all the really bad things I covered up for him are suddenly uncovered. I got a far more severe type of karma for traitors and people that owe me, legally a lot more than what I wasted tolerating your rape of a band you never deserved to be in."

Later, Manson resumed his rant in a separate posting on the blog. "I don't want this to be confused as anger," he writes, before hinting that there may be some arson in Pogo's future. "I feel nothing for a person that betrayed me and my band. My band. And I'm sure that if anyone wants to discuss this with him personally, I won't be so rude to not give you his or his family's addresses. Since I payed [sic] for both soon to be destroyed buildings. That's at least what I just had a dream of, that I awoke from. So good luck to you, sir. You are gonna need it. Sweet dreams."

Pete Doherty arrested at court moments after he was spared jail [Dec. 21st, 2009|08:22 am]

The 30-year-old Babyshambles singer escaped a prison sentence at Gloucester Crown Court after admitting careless and drink driving after a gig in the city.
But after he was told to pay £2,050 in fines and banned from driving for 18 months, police officers escorted him from the court to the police station across the road.
The county force later confirmed he had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug, but would not say what type.

Officers told Doherty of his arrest in the corridors of the Victorian court, and he was escorted down the steps where photographers were waiting.
Minutes before the arrest the court heard Kate Moss's former lover admit to careless driving on June 11 this year after playing a gig to 300 fans at Gloucester Guildhall.
He also admitted to drink-driving that night, having given a reading of 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
Prosecutor Sarah Regan said the careless driving charge related to an "erratic, sharp turn".
After the 12.30am pursuit, Doherty stopped the Mercedes and swapped seats with passenger Daisy Whitbread in an apparent attempt to avoid punishment.
The songwriter had already been disqualified from driving in 2007 and had not renewed his licence, the court heard.

Officers found one wrap of heroin in the car, worth up to £35, and what was described as "home-made crack pipe" on the driver's seat.
A search of Doherty's country home in Durley, near Marlborough, Wiltshire, uncovered a further 15 wraps worth around £350.

Ms Regan said Doherty claimed to have offered to drive instead of his female companion who felt she was not fit to take the wheel.
She added: "Mr Doherty was pulled from the door and arrested. It was noted that he was extremely unsteady on his feet, his eyes were glazed and he smelt very strongly of alcohol, causing the officer to form the view he was drunk."

Ms Regan said Doherty had been driven to the gig by his manager but "as he came out of the back of Guildhall where the car was waiting, there were lots of people waiting - including a number of photographers".
"Not wanting to be photographed with Ms Whitbread, Mr Doherty said that he just drove off as fast as he could. He saw the flashing lights of the police car behind him but didn't think that they were for him.

"During the gig he said that he had been provided with half a bottle of rum when he went on stage and that it was probably empty when the gig finished. However, although he admitted that he had probably had enough to drink to make him over the limit, he didn't think it would impair him in any way."
Doherty had earlier admitted to two counts of drugs possession, driving without a licence and without insurance, as part of the same episode. The judge was waiting until today's pleas were entered before dealing with all the offences together.

The court heard Doherty had 21 previous drug offences and six previous motoring offences. He had no convictions for driving.
Doherty's defence barrister Peter Ratliff asked for a financial penalty, which Judge Martin Picton said was "proportionate to the offence".

It is understood that Doherty had drugs on his person when arrested.
A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "A 30-year-old Wiltshire man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance. He is currently assisting police with their inquiries."

Michael Jackson's Brothers React To His 'MTV News' Man of the Year' Honor [Dec. 21st, 2009|10:09 am]

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
On Friday, MTV News named Michael Jackson the Man of the Year, and not just because his death was the biggest story of 2009. In passing, he reminded us all of his formidable legacy — as a musician, a showman and a cultural icon. He revolutionized the world of music videos, wowed fans around the world and, somewhere along the way, helped a fledgling cable channel called MTV to establish a foothold in the world.

And for all those reasons — not to mention a few more — Jackson's surviving brothers think MTV News made the right call.

"I think it's great, because Mike was a pioneer," Jermaine Jackson said. "I really feel he put MTV on the map because of his contributions to music. You made the right choice, definitely."

Marlon Jackson agreed, though he added that Michael should also be remembered for something else — his charitable work, most of which he did not participate in because he knew it would earn him headlines, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

"There are so many other things too. Michael and the brothers, when we were the Jackson 5, used to go to children's hospitals, and that hasn't stopped," Marlon said. "And a lot of people didn't know about all the different charities he paid for — a lot of celebrities, when they had passed and could not afford to bury themselves, he would pay for it. The Lord puts you in the position to help others, and that's part of helping others."

Whitney Port's WWD Interview [Dec. 21st, 2009|10:02 am]

[rescueme_fromme]

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
WWD: How do you think New York differs from L.A. in terms of fashion?
Whitney Port: I think New York fashion is just a lot more sophisticated and a lot more forward-thinking. People are more willing to take chances here. People take more pride in what they wear and obviously they have to dress for the elements.

WWD: You've started with apparel, but do you ever see yourself venturing into accessories?
W.P.: I would love to but I don't know how talented I'd be at it. But eventually, I think that would be a cool option.

WWD: You're at People's Revolution five days a week, how do you have time to work on your line?
W.P.: Actually, I'm in and out of there. I have a design space in there and then I also have my apartment, which we just built a whole little section in to design in. I mean, I have to be out in the field. Kelly [Cutrone] told me, 'You know, this is your passion project, so you do whatever you have to do to get this done'. This is my first priority.

WWD: The other "Hills" veterans ventured into the design world with not as much success as they'd hoped. Heidi Montag developed a line that closed shortly after and Lauren Conrad decided to bring her line to Kohl's after not weathering well in the high-end market. Does that concern you at all?
W.P.: I put myself in a different sort of realm as them. Obviously, it's scary. I think it's really hard to break out right now since the fashion industry is struggling. I mean, people don't want to spend their money on clothes right now - it's a luxury. You're always worried about people not understanding your point of view, not being able to get it. But I think my biggest competition is myself.

Matthew Goode on A Single Man, Accents, and Spray-Tanning with Colin Firth [Dec. 21st, 2009|10:57 am]

Few days old, but I checked and didn't see it posted--

“Blink and you’ll miss me,” said Matthew Goode, describing his ill-fated, longtime partner of Colin Firth’s devastated college professor in A Single Man. On the one hand, Goode does occupy a minimum of screen time in Tom Ford’s directorial debut, a stirring ’60s-set drama currently in the awards-season hunt. On the other, the striking, versatile 31-year-old Brit is pretty hard to miss in any of his films, from a romantic lead in Chasing Liberty to an ambitious Midwestern cutthroat in The Lookout to the social-climbing confidante of Brideshead Revisited. Single Man is Goode’s return to indies after his bewigged antiheroics as Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias in last spring’s Watchmen; he’ll be back to the majors next year opposite Amy Adams in Leap Year. He spoke recently to Movieline about discovering A Single Man for himself, what scared him about Tom Ford, and how a small part can sometimes make all the difference.

minor spoilers, but nothing that'll ruin the movie )

He's so adorable. This movie was beautiful; the scene he mentions with the phone call made me cry. Very highly recommended.

MERYL: "I'LL ALWAYS DO SEX SCENES."

Meryl Streep has revealed that she does not mind starring in sex scenes.

The 60-year-old, who plays a woman who has an affair with her ex-husband (Alec Baldwin) in new comedy It's Complicated, said that although it is "unusual" for someone to perform sex scenes at her age, it is important to show life as "authentic".

In an joint interview with Baldwin, Streep told The Times: "Sex scenes, love scenes. Yes, at this age it's unusual for somebody to do a love scene, to be making love.

"Yeah, that is unusual. But that is just how benighted we are. Because, you know, we still are alive. It's you and I, baby. It's authentic.

"The whole idea that you have to look a certain way and be a certain age to earn love is ridiculous. We love what we love. It doesn't matter what shape it is. It's thrilling to see real people on screen."

It's Complicated is scheduled for release next month.
